This month, I have been doing in depth review of our current contract. My interest in doing this was peaked by a couple conversations. One conversation was over the Staffing Level, when one member stated that the Staffing Level control in our contract was given away and another member stated it had not changed. The conversation continued in reference to Staffing Levels and one of the members said I have both contracts in front of me, the old one and the current one, they are completely different. I thought to myself, I need to read this!
As I read through the contract, I noticed a couple items were removed.
The first item I discovered that was removed, related to the courts.
The second item I discovered that was removed, related to entry and promotional qualifications.

Tentative agreements were signed by the union on the removal of both of these items. These items were removed in 2014 during 2014 -2017 collective bargaining agreement negotiation process. I will be watching the future negotiation process very carefully. We need to make sure the members are in agreement if we decide to give any item away.
In closing, I would like to say I am a person with experience, a person you can depend on, a person that will voice the concerns of and represent each and everyone one of you, a person that will put in 110% is the type of person you need in serving as your DSA Vice President.
